PHILIP N. GAINSBOROUGH, CFP®, President
Philip Gainsborough, a native Californian, has been active in the financial
field for over 40 years. As one of the
early pioneers of the financial planning movement, he was among the first to
become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional in 1978. In 1980, he formed his own Registered
Investment Advisor, Gainsborough Financial Consultants, Inc. to offer financial
planning and investment management services to high net worth individuals.
In
1982 he founded Gainsborough Capital Corp., one of the first NASD Broker Dealers
in the nation to be primarily owned by its representatives. As the firm grew, a holding company Associated
Financial Group, Inc. (AFG) was formed to include various securities and
financial services firms, since purchased by Pacific Life in 1997. For 18 years
he served as president and CEO of AFG and its subsidiaries until he stepped
down in March of 2000. During the period from 1982 to 2000 he built AFG to
include: Associated Securities Corp., a member of the NASD and Pacific Stock
Exchange with over 200 branch offices on the west coast with sales in excess of
three billion dollars and revenues exceeding sixty million dollars; Associated Planners
Investment Advisors, a registered investment advisory firm with over one
billion under management; Associated Planners Insurance Services, an insurance
agency with 300 licensed agents; The Olympus Group of Mutual Funds which was
sold to Chase Manhattan Bank in 1993; and West Coast Realty Management Co., a
real estate management company for West Coast Realty Investors (a REIT) and
other real estate limited partnerships with assets exceeding 100 million
dollars.
While
running these companies Phil served on UCLA's Board of Advisors for the
Professional Designation in Personal Financial Planning, as President and
Chairman of the Board of the Los Angeles Chapter of the International
Association for Financial Planning (IAFP) and served on the national board of
the IAFP, now known as the Financial Planning Association. During this period
he also hosted money talk shows on KMPC and KABC and was syndicated on the
California Radio Network with a weekly financial commentary. He also conducted
financial advisory seminars for large corporations including the Aerospace
Corp., Hewlett Packard, IBM, Magnavox and AT&T.
A graduate of the University of Southern California, Mr.
Gainsborough received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics in 1960. His
professional affiliations include the Financial Planning Association. He
formerly served on the Finance Committee of the Exceptional Children's
Foundation and the Board of Directors of the California Institute of Integral
Studies. He also is a member of the Music Center's Fraternity of Friends, which
sponsors the Spotlight Awards. He is married, the father of six adult children,
grandfather of four, and resides in West Los Angeles.
ANITA
O'CONNOR, M.S., CFP®, Chief Compliance Officer
Anita O'Connor, a native Californian, received her Bachelors Degree in
Psychology from UCLA and a Masters Degree in Special Education from USC. After
spending 8 years teaching educationally handicapped children and training
student teachers at UCLA's Neuropsychiatric Institute, she became interested in
financial planning and was offered a paraplanner position with Gainsborough
Financial Consultants, Inc. in 1980. Soon after, Ms. O'Connor became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, obtained her securities and insurance
licenses and is now Chief Compliance Officer for Gainsborough Financial
Consultants, Inc. Ms. O'Connor is a member of the Financial Planning
Association (FPA).
Ms. O'Connor has been a frequent speaker on the subject of financial plan case
writing and has conducted seminars in personal financial planning for various
Southland corporations, community groups as well as for her clients. She is
past President and Chairman of the Board of the Los Angeles Chapter of the
IAFP. She resides in Yorba Linda with her husband and their two daughters.
LARA G. LAMB, CFP®, Vice President
Lara G. Lamb, a native Californian, received her Bachelors Degree in Business
Administration with an option in Finance from California State University of
Northridge. She went on to complete the Professional Designation in Personal
Financial Planning at UCLA. Prior to joining Gainsborough Financial
Consultants, Inc. (GFC) as a paraplanner in 2001, Ms. Lamb worked for 6 years
as a project manager and instructional designer in the multimedia training
industry. Shortly after joining GFC, she began actively participating in the
financial planning process and was promoted to Vice President in February of
2004 and became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional in September of
2004.
Ms. Lamb is an active member of the Professionals Network Group (PNG) and the
Financial Planning Association (FPA). She resides in the San Fernando Valley
with her husband and their two children.

Board of Standards Inc. owns the certification marks CFP® and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully
complete CFP Board's initial and ongoing certification requirements.
